They’re perfect for serving at holiday buffets, family potlucks, and summer picnics and game day. They’re easy to make, affordable, and a real crowd pleaser.

These sour cream and onion deviled eggs are my family’s current fave. The addition of sour cream makes them extra creamy and delectable, and topping them with Everything Bagel seasoning adds great texture and even more flavor. Plus I show you how to make Air Fryer Deviled Eggs too.

Why Are They Called Deviled Eggs?

Originating in the 19th century, the term ‘deviled’ refers to spicy or zesty foods, including eggs prepared with mustard, pepper, or other spiced ingredients mixed and stuffed in the yolk cavity.

In some regions of the U.S., deviled eggs are referred to as stuffed eggs, dressed eggs, or salad eggs. And ‘angel eggs’ is a newer names that is sometimes used for deviled egg variations that contain less fat and calories.

  • Vinegar– Cuts through the creamy flavor of the eggs.
  • Garnish – crunchy everything bagel seasoning and chives add colour and make great garnishes.

How To Make Instant Pot Deviled Eggs

  1. Pour water and vinegar in the Instant Pot insert. Next, place eggs into an egg steamer basket and place the basket inside the insert.
  2. Close lid, lock and turn the valve to the sealing position. Press manual high pressure, and set timer for 5 minutes. When cook time is complete, perform a quick pressure release.
  3. Then carefully remove the egg steamer basket, and transfer the eggs into a bowl filled with ice and water. After 2 minutes, remove the eggs from the ice bath, then gently roll and peel each one.
  4. Cut each of the eggs in half, scoop out the yolk and place in a small bowl. Set the egg white halves aside. Add the remaining ingredients to the bowl with the yolks and mix to combine.
  5. Then, place the egg yolk mixture into a plastic bag and seal. Cut off one corner, and gently pipe the mixture into the cavity of each egg white.
  6. Top with chopped chives and everything bagel seasoning and serve immediately.

Make Air Fryer Deviled Eggs

  1. Preheat air fryer to to 250F / 120C
  2. Place the wire rack in the air fryer basket and set the eggs on top.
  3. Cook for 16 minutes.
  4. Remove eggs from air fryer and immediately submerge them in an ice bath to stop the cooking process.
  5. Once cooled,cut each of the eggs in half, scoop out the yolk and place in a small bowl. Set the egg white halves aside. Add the remaining ingredients to the bowl with the yolks and mix to combine.
  6. Then, place the egg yolk mixture into a plastic bag and seal. Cut off one corner, and gently pipe the mixture into the cavity of each egg white.
  7. Top with chopped chives and everything bagel seasoning and serve immediately.

  • Make sure to cool them down fast in the iced water.

Friends, if you haven’t heard of Everything Bagel seasoning, you are seriously missing out! It is an amaaaaaazing blend of poppy seeds, toasted sesame seeds, dried garlic, dried onion, and salt. Instant Pot Deviled Eggs

Sour Cream and Onion Instant Pot Deviled Eggs are a low carb version of everyone’s favorite potato chip!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup (118ml) water
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar
  • 9 whole large eggs
  • 3-4 tablespoons sour cream
  • 2 teaspoons mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped chives plus more for garnish
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon Everything Bagel seasoning

Instructions

  • Pour water and vinegar in the Instant Pot insert. Next, place eggs into an egg steamer basket and place the basket inside the insert.
