Wright to Run for Re-election to Murfreesboro City CouncilMURFREESBORO – Murfreesboro City Councilman and Century 21 real estate broker Shawn Wright announced he will run for re-election to the City Council.“I’m running because I enjoy helping people and I am proud of what we’ve accomplished during the last four years. There’s still more work to be done and I want to continue that momentum we have created,” Wright said. “We have not raised taxes during these last four years by being fiscally smart and paying constant attention to our budget and current revenues. We are widening Medical Center Boulevard, working with the state to widen state highways running through town, and improving the infrastructure city wide. These projects will improve traffic.”Elected in 2020, Wright made the retention and recruitment of public safety employees a priority. He worked to bring the Veterans Park to fruition, was vocal that Murfreesboro must have smart growth, and has actively supported finding an alternate to the landfill so it can be closed.“My career has taught me that everybody needs housing and a place to work and when you combine the two through proper planning, it leads to improving the quality of life for the entire community.”Wright runs three real estate offices covering Murfreesboro, Manchester, and Tullahoma where he has been successful in helping people find the right home and small business owners find a location for their businesses.“As a lifelong resident of Murfreesboro, I have found that wherever I travel, people who have been to Murfreesboro are always complimentary of the friendliness they experienced” Wright said. “I love our community and I would like to continue serving the citizens of Murfreesboro.”Wright graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance and Economics, holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Memphis with an emphasis in Finance and Management, and certifications from the University of Tennessee in Business Analytics and Lean Process Management.Wright is married to his high school sweetheart, Lora, and they have four children. The Wright’s are active members for First United Methodist Church where Wright and his son, Jackson, teach an adult Sunday School class called the Carpenter's Class.The election is Thursday, August 1 with early voting from July 12 through July 27.
